SAMBA, Jan 21: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Mubarak Singh inaugurated India Water Week on the theme “Water Management for Sustainable Development” in presence MLA Samba Dr DK Manyal, MLA Vijaypur Chander Prakash Ganga, Executive Director Dr Narinder Bhatial and Regional Director NR Bhagat at District Administrative complex here today.
The programme was organized by Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) Water and Sanitation Support Organisation (WSSO) Department of PHE I&FC, Central Water Commission, District Water Sanitation Mission and Central Ground Water Commission under the aegis of Ministry of Water Resources, River Management and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India through Programme Implementation Agency—Jaipur Seva Foundation.
The aim of the programme was to create awareness among the general public regarding conservation of water.
During the function, DDC Mubarak Singh said that the demands are increasing every year for water while resources are becoming more and more limited. That is why it is important to seek out, find and start using all the innovative water conservations solutions and methods that are available today, he added.
Dr Narinder Bhatial stressed that such type of workshops play an important role in educating people about the importance and judicious use of water. He also highlighted the need to keep water bodies neat and clean and take measure to conserve them for future.
On the occasion Dr Manyal and Chander Prakash Ganga assured that they will provide all support to the department.
Among others present were Executive Engineer, Central Water Commission, Chief Planning Officer Samba, Executive Engineer PHE Samba, Project Manager Integrated Water Shed Management, District Project Officer ICDS, Chief Education Officer Samba, Chief Medical Officer Samba, District Social Welfare Officer Samba, Block Development Officers from Samba, Vijaypur, Purmandal and Ramgarh, Block Medical Officers, Sarpanchs and Panchs.
