India take lead to 498, end 3rd day at 189/3

GALLE: India extended their lead to 498 by ending the rain-hit third day of the first Test against Sri Lanka at 189 for three, here today.

     Skipper Virat Kohli (76) was at the crease when the day’s play ended. Danushka Gunathilaka trapped Abhinav Mukund (81) in the third ball of the 47th over and with that wicket stumps were drawn.

     Brief Scores:

     India: 600 and 189/3 in 46.3 overs (V Kohli batting 76, A Mukund 81; Danushka Gunathilaka 1/15, Dilruwan Perera 1/42).
