LEH, July 26: India is the best example of communal harmony in the world and Indian Muslims can collectively make efforts to create peace in the world.
This was stated by His Holiness Dalai Lama during lunch hosted by All Muslim Coordination Committee at Eidgah here today. Expressing his delight to be among Muslims community the Buddhist spiritual leader reaffirmed that his prime commitment is to make a compassionate and happy world for the 7 billion humanities to live harmoniously and peacefully.
He added whether one is believer of any faith or non-believer but we all are same human beings and derive happiness, love and affection from each other. He added that human beings are social animals and basic human nature is compassionate therefore we need to focus more on human’s compassion nature to create more happier world and all the religious in the world have the potential to produce good human being. He added that religion is individual personal matter but the main focus should be laid to live harmoniously having sense of community.
Earlier, presenting the welcome speech Anjuman Moin-Ul-Islam President Dr Abdul Qayum said that this gathering is kind of gesture from Muslims community of Ladakh which exhibits the exemplary communal harmony of the region. “Ladakhi are exceptional in maintaining communal, we don’t get influenced by external intolerance and Muslims from Zojila to Turtuk in Nobra do our best to maintain communal harmony but unfortunately few black sheep in the society bring bad name to Muslims” said Dr Qayum.
Expressing his gratitude to His Holiness for sparing his precious time Anjuman Imamiya President Ashraf Ali Barcha said “Your visit has given us special opportunity to get-together; we tried our best to follow your advices to strengthen the communal harmony and peace in the society and we pray for your longlife”.
On the occasion Muslims community felicitated Apey Tsering Kuzom Gotuk, Jigmet and Motup with khataks for sparing their private land to Muslims Community for Eidgah expansion. His Holiness termed it a true gesture of communal harmony.
His Holiness also released a Book on Ladakh History by writer Abdul Ghani Sheikh. Kashmir Arts Association Leh President Fayaz and General secretary Ashiq A Razaki presented a shawl to Dalai Lama.
Ladakh Affairs and Cooperative Minister Chering Dorje, Hill Council CEC Dr.Sonam Dawa, Executive Councillors, MLA Nawang Rigzin Jora, MLA Nobra Deldan Namgyal, Ulmahs, Mulvis, Ladakh Buddhist Association President Tsewang Thinles, Christian Association President Dechen Chamga, HoDs and other invitees were also present to grace the occasion.
