JAMMU, Mar 24: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Ch Lal Singh today asked the medicos and paramedicos to ensure adequate medicare facilities to the patients and maintain punctuality in the health institutions, adding that any dereliction on the part of patient-care would not be tolerated.
The Minister was addressing a gathering of medicos, paramedicos, ASHA workers and locals during World TB Day function organised at  Bishnah, here today.
MLA Bishnah Kamal Arora, Ex-MLA Ashwani Sharma, Director General ISM Dr. Kabir Ahmed Dar, Director Health Services, Dr. Baljeet Singh Pathania, Mission Director NRHM Dr. Yash Pal Sharma, Director Family Welfare Dr. Baldev Raj Sharma, Project Director AIDS Control Society Dr Mohan Singh, State TB Officer Dr. Ajay Gupta besides Chief Medical Officer and Block Medical Officer were also present on the occasion.
Ch Lal Singh asked the doctors to provide all available healthcare facilities to the patients in the hospital and avoid sending their attendants to private shops for purchase of medicines. He warned of stern action against those doctors who despite availability of medicines in the hospital send the attendants for purchase from open market.
The Minister said that the need of hour is to equip all the health institutions in the State with latest technology and modern infrastructural facilities so that the patients do not face any inconvenience or discomfort. He directed the medical officers to avoid referring cases to city hospital. He emphasised on best possible medicare facilities available in the hospitals for the patients besides ensuring healthcare in the Government hospitals so that people avoid admitting their patients in private health centres.
Ch Lal Singh said that there will be no compromise when it comes to providing medicare to the needy particularly those who come here from far-flung areas. He directed the hospital administration to ensure every possible facility to the patients and their attendants.
Emphasising on maintaining decorum, discipline and punctuality by the staff, the Minister said that he is fully aware of the self-respect of each employee, irrespective of the status but maintaining decorum, dress code and punctuality in the health institutions is his priority. He sought cooperation from the staff in making the Health and Medical Education Department as one of the best organisations in the State. He said concerted efforts are being made to provide latest technology equipment in every hospital like dialysis, ultrasound, ventilator, CT Scan, MRI, High Power Electronic Oscillator System etc so that the ailing public including the emergencies do not have to approach any private health institution in or outside the State for assistance.
Ch Lal Singh said ít is the prime duty of medicos and paramedicos to attend to the patients properly.
Regarding the salary to 2211 Multipurpose Family Welfare Health Workers, the Minister said he is committed to settle their claim within one month, adding that in this regard a proposal of Rs. 27 crore has been submitted to the Finance Department. He said Government is also keen to enhance the honorarium of ASHA workers.
