JAMMU, May 13: The two-day long celebrations of Bhagwan Parshuram Ji Jayanti concluded all over Jammu region today with holding of religious congregations, holding of mass prayers and taking out of Rath Yatras.
In connection with concluding function of two-day celebration of Bhagwan Parshuram Ji Jayanti an impressive Rath Yatra was taken out by Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha Parade in the city here today.
The Rath Yatra started from Brahman Sabha Parade and it passed through Moti Bazar, Pacca Danga, Jain Bazar, Link Road, Purani Mandi, City Chowk, Rajinder Bazar, Shaheedi Chowk, Raghunath Bazar, Shalimar and later culminated at Parade.
A large number of devotees participated in the Rath Yatra and paid their obeisance to Bhagwan Parshuram Ji.
The leaders of various political parties also joined the Rath Yatra. The Swari of Bhagwan Parshuram Ji was taken on a fully decorated chariot (rath) which was followed by various tractor trolleys carrying the portraits of Parshuram Ji.
The devotees enroute showered flowers on the chariot and paid their respects to Bhagwan Parshuram Ji.
The devotees were dancing to the beating of drums and reciting bhajans in the praise of Bhagwan Ji.
Earlier in the morning Yagnopavit ceremony (wearing of sacred thread) of 100 Hindu boys irrespective of their caste was performed at the Brahman Sabha premises Parade amidst the chanting of Vedic Mantras and performing of Hawan yagya. Vishva Murti Sharma and Prabhakar Sharma performed the Yagnopavit rituals.
The function was also attended by Madan Lal Sharma MP, BJP State president Jugal Kishore Sharma, Congress leader and MLC Jugal Kishore and others. The entire function was held under the supervision of president Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha, Ved Parkash Sharma and other office bearers.
A grand function was also held in connection with Parshuram Jayanti at Hiranagar today by the Dogra Brahman Sabha under the supervision of Krishan Chand Sharma its president.
Hundreds of devotees drawn from different parts of the tehsil and Kathua district participated in the celebrations and paid their obeisance to Bhagwan Parshuram Ji. A langer was also organised and devotees were served with Prashad. However the Shoba Yatra as usual could not be taken out due to the recent Koota episode where three members of a family including one of the office bearers of the Sabha died in a fire incident.
The Parshuram Jayanti was also celebrated at Lakhanpur and Samba today and devotees held mass prayers in the temple of Bhagwan Parshuram.
