JAMMU, Dec 22: An impressive procession was taken out by the Joint Churches of Jammu and Christian community on the eve of Merry Christmas today.
The procession started from Residence road Church and after passing through main markets of the City including Raghunath Bazar, City Chowk, Shalamar, Parade, Kachi Chawani, Panjtirthi, Jain Bazar, Purani Mandi, Kanak Mandi it later culminated at Shahidi Chowk.
The Santa Clause, the angles, Tableaus with the King Herod who was the King at that time and soldiers of Roman Army riding on horses were the special attraction in the procession.
A large number of members of Christian community also took part in the procession and people liked every part of the Tableaus. The Choirs of different churches on trolleys sang in praise of God and songs relating to the birth of Jesus Christ.
The market associations at many places gave a warm welcome to the procession and offered refreshment to the participants.
The main organizers of the procession were Udhay Singh priest of St. Paul’s Church, Shoukat Peter, president Joint Churches of Jammu, Father Jose Vadakel of Catholic Church Jammu, S M Gill Ex MLC, Feastus Sotra, Younas Masih, Anthony Teji, Rohil Mattoo, Robin Bhatti and Christian community leaders including Tarseem Masih, Faras, Markus Nisar, Johney Bhatti and Camres David Media secretary.
The organizers later expressed gratitude to district administration for extending all help and cooperation. They also expressed gratitude to police , Traffic Police  and the general public including the shopkeepers of Jammu for rendering cooperation in taking out the religious procession and warmly welcoming it.
They wished Merry Christmas to all falling on December 25.
