JAMMU, June 23: DDC Member Territorial Constituency Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony has urged upon J&K LG’s Administration to appeal Union Home Minister, Amit Shah for implementing Enemies Property Act in J&K and abolishing the Custodian Department as the same is of no use for the people of Jammu region.
Addressing a press conference here today, Tony said that Enemies Property Act is necessary for giving complete rights to the people living in the custodian property as under the Custodian Department.
The DDC member said that the ‘good for nothing’ department should be abolished as soon as possible and government should pave way for the Enemies Property Act in J&K so that people can buy and sell the property which was originally owned by those who left for Pakistan and settled there during partition and later the same property was allotted to refugees who came from the other side of LoC.
He said during his first visit to R.S Pura, Home Minister, Amit Shah had promised 5 marla plots and compensation but till date nothing has been given to the border area farmers who have to face a lot of miseries for living on the edge.
The DDC member demanded that there is no fun in lingering on the delimitation process, rather it will be good for the people if the Government at the Centre will first restore the statehood and thereafter in November go for Assembly polls because there is no match to a political dispensation.
Tony resented that for APM on June 24 DDC members were not called as they are the one who know the ground situation in a better way.
