96 challaned for violations of COVID restrictions

SAMBA: June, 23: Continuing crackdown on violators of COVID Appropriate Behavior (CAB), Samba Police in consecutive day in a joint drive with District Civil administration booked 96 persons across the district and imposed fine amounting to Rs 49,000 on them.
In order to enforce COVID SOPs and to ensure that the people of district Samba follow COVID Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) during the relaxation hours, the various joint teams of Samba police and civil administration booked 96 persons including shopkeepers for violation of COVID SOPs/guidelines in various forms.
Police said 74 persons were fined for not wearing face masks in the public places and bazars.
It said 17 persons including shopkeepers were Challaned for not maintaining social distance and five persons were fined for spitting in public places.
During the drive, face masks were also distributed by Samba police to infuse a sense of responsibility among the violators to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
Samba Police has once again appealed to people to wear face masks when stepping out from home and maintain COVID Appropriate Behaviour as these are the key preventive measures to curb the spread of COVID-19. People are further advised to maintain social distancing & personal hygiene.
