SRINAGAR, Oct 15: Minister for Public Works (R&B), Gardens, Parks and Floriculture, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today asked the Deputy Commissioner Poonch to implement the Board decision in letter and spirit and ensure that all works approved for the district are completed as per the decisions.
Speaking at a meeting convened to review the status of the decisions taken in the previous Board meeting of the district, the Minister asked the DDC Poonch to personally monitor the projects and review the progress on monthly basis to ensure timely completion of various developmental works in the district.
Mr Bukhari, who is also the chairman of District Development Board (DDB) Poonch was informed that around 44 percent funds stand utilized out of Rs 173 crore annual plan for current fiscal in Poonch district so far while a project of Rs 25.24 crore has been forwarded to the Planning Department for making operational 132 KVA Chandak transmission line damaged during last year’s floods.
MLA, Poonch Haveli, Shah Mohammad Trantray, Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, Nisar Ahmad Wani and other senior officers of the district were present in the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner informed the meeting that Rs 1405.48 lakh are being spent under R&B sector in the district while Rs 1551.08 lakh have been incurred so far out of Rs 4946.35 lakh earmarked for the rural development schemes approved for the current financial year.
He said Rs 1135.25 lakh are being spent on the schemes approved under PHE sector, Rs 488.40 lakh for minor irrigation, Rs 382 lakh under IAY scheme and Rs 255.92 lakh in health sector. He said Rs 1526.20 lakh have been expended in the district under MGNREGA out of Rs 4228.53 lakh allocated for current fiscal.
Mr Nisar said that work is going on to improve the town and interior roads, Fazalabad and Sher-e-Kashmir bridges, Bafliaz-Manddi road, development of parks and Manddi bazaar bypass road.
The Minister said that Chief Minister has been requested for making available 2 critical care ambulances for Poonch and Manddi to cater to the needs of the patients especially in emergency circumstances. He asked Deputy Commissioner to install solar lights in the parks there apart from renovating and beautifying them.
