JAMMU, Oct 15: On the second day of Navratra Festival in Lakshmi Narayan Temple Gandhi Nagar, an enthralling 90-minute musical evening of devotional songs was held.
About 25 young budding artists from schools and individuals entertained a huge gathering of devotees with their melodious Bhajans and Mata Ki Bhaintein.
The festival is being organized for the first time by the Lakshmi Narayan Temple Management Trust, Gandhi Nagar.
As per the ritual, the evening started with Maha Aarti which was participated by a large number of devotees including the chief guest of the evening, Director, All India Radio, Jammu, V S Samyal.
The musical evening opened with Vandhna presented by a group of students of Dogra Higher Secondary School. It was followed by a Mata Ki Bhaint, “Chandi Maa Machailon Wali”, sung by a 7th class student, Harsh.
The highlight of the evening was a rare and bold presentation by a 21 year old artist, Bhanu Sumbariya who presented Bhaint with burning lamps kept on small wheel kept on his head which he meticulously balanced while dancing and singing Mata Ki Bhaint.
Small kids also stole the show by their solo performances including one by a 5-year-old Pragati, who sang “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Patit Paawan Sita Ram” to huge clapping of the gathering.
The president of the Trust, Gulchain Singh Charak, distributed awards to all participants, complimented the performance of the artists and hoped that the Festival would attract more young talent in the coming days.
