IMFA pays homage to Pt Vidya Rattan Aasi

JAMMU, Feb 11: Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA), University of Jammu today pay a heartfelt tribute to legendary poet of the soil, Pt. Vidya Rattan Aasi at its premises, who took his last breath in SMGS hospital due to cardiac arrest at 12 A.M. today. He left his countless admirers in grief, within and outside the country.
Whole staff and students observed two minute silence for the pious departed soul and prayed for him heavenly abode with tears in their eyes with deep reverence.
Born and brought up in Jammu, Pt. Vidya ji relentlessly yet vigorously wrote and enlivened poetry as recluse, with tone of dissent for materialistic yet synthetic apparent world for more than 66 years.
He studied for 2 years in Cheryaee, Distt. Udhampur from 4th to 6th standard and proved his mettle as master of Urdu not under the tutelage of any educationist, but on his own.
Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was also held today in Rangyug Studio Jammu in which prominent artists and poets of State namely Khalid Hussain, Shashi Powel, Padam Shri Rajinder Tikku, Deepak Kumar, Dr Liaqat Jafri, Swami Antar Nirav, Raj Kumar Behropia, Dr Arvinder Aman, Vijaya Thakur, Dr Javed Rahi, Ravinder Koul, Dr Lalit Gupta, Balwinder Singh Deep participated.
