Illicit timber seized, accused at-large

Srinagar, July 3: The police in Bandipora today said to have seized illicit timber from the Aloosa area of the district.
Police said that while on specific information about timber smuggling, a police party from Police Post Aloosa under the supervision of Deputy SP Headquarters Bandipora raided the particular spot and seized 09 logs of illicit timber dumped in the cowshed belonging to Makhna Chechi, son of Moj Din Chechi resident of Chechinar Aloosa, who is presently at large and efforts are on to effect his arrest.
Accordingly, police said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Bandipora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Police said that the drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure the protection of Green Gold.
“Our consistent actions against anti-social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime,” police said.
