KARGIL, Apr 4: In coordination with the District Administration, the volunteers of Baseej-i-Imam, Imam Khomieni Memorial Trust (IKMT) Kargil today initiated Washing & Disinfection drive in the town under Operation ‘Shabih Peyamber’ on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Hazrat Ali Akbar(AS), which normally is celebrated as Yaom-e-Jawan by them.
In their initiative, Baseej got full support of NHPC Chutak Project, Municipality Kargil, Health Department and Public Health Engineering Division Kargil besides District Administration and District Police. “The initiative is being carried out as part of continued efforts by this voluntary organization for combating COVID-19 in Kargil. The Chief Engineer NHPC HEP Chutak provided Water Tanker to us to carry out the job, while MC Kargil provided equipment backup and JCB,” said the organisers.
They said the operation will be executed for three days, adding in the first phase it will cover washing of the main road between Adul Gund to Baroo and the Lal Chowk Hospital road, which will be followed by spraying of disinfectant on the said stretches and Market.
“A work force comprising of thirty volunteers will be participating in this operation on half day rotational arrangement of fifteen in each batch. The work is being supervised by three Senior Baseej functionaries, namely Mohamad Abdulla Baseej, Ahmed Hussain Baseej and Anayat Ali Baseej,” the organisers maintained.
They further said that before starting the main task all the volunteers were given necessary training and guidance at Hussaini Park by Dr Ahmad Ali and Dr Iftikhar Ali of Baqiriya Health Care and Research Centre, the Health wing of IKMT. “They stressed on the volunteers to maintain Personal Hygiene and particularly Social Distancing while executing the job. They were asked to work in small batches on turns and wear protective gears while disinfection drives,” the organisers added.
The operation was flagged off by the Chairman IKMT Hojjatul Islam Sheikh Mohammd Sadiq Rajai in the presence of Dr Iftikhar Ali DSHO Kargil.
