IIMC holds workshop on cyber safety

JAMMU, Sept 23: A one-day workshop on cyber safety was held today at Jammu campus of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC).
In accordance with the partnership with IIMC, Tik Tok along with the representatives of Youth Ki Awaz, a media group from New Delhi, dwelt in details on various aspects of the cyber security.
The workshop was presided over by the Regional IIMC Jammu Director, Manohar Khajuria.
In his opening remarks, Director Public Policy India, Tik Tok, Nitin Saluja underlined the need of creating awareness among the masses about the misuse of social media like Whatsapp, Facebook, YouTube etc by certain elements creating troubles in the society.
He said Tik Tok has initiated a campaign throughout the country to educate masses about the use of these media platforms.
Senior functionaries of Youth ki Awaz, Prashan Jha and Shikha Sharma in a power point presentation threw light on various methods used by fraudsters on social media to commit financial frauds making the innocent people their prey.
They also explained the methods to tackle online bullies and trolls and said that no message or news should be sent or forwarded before confirming it from at least two to three authentic sources.
