IIM Jammu Convocation: 214 conferred with MBA Degrees

First three toppers are female students

JAMMU, June 9: Seventy seven women among a total of 214 students were conferred with Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degrees as 5th Annual Convocation of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu was held, here today.
First three toppers in the MBA were also female students and conferred with Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals by President of India, Ramnath Kovind, who was chief guest on the occasion.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and Lt Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha were the guests of honour while the event was presided over by Dr Milind Kamble, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu, who declared the convocation open and presented the degrees.
Prof B S Sahay Director, IIM Jammu presented the Director’s report and highlighted achievements of the Institute. He said that the IIM Jammu has set high standards for outstanding value-based quality education, high-quality research, executive education, consultancy and strong corporate as well as international linkages.
The Director informed that IIM Jammu offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme, Master of Business Administration (Hospital Administration and Healthcare Management) in association with IIT Jammu and AIIMS Jammu, a Dual Degree Programme in technology and management by IIM Jammu and IIT Jammu, Integrated Programme in Management (IPM), PhD Programme and Executive MBA programme.
Earlier, Dr Milind Kamble, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu, presented a formal welcome address and said that IIM Jammu was making rapid strides in quality education and its programmes were as per alignment with the new National Education Policy. He also informed that the IIM Jammu is all set to move to its new campus by the end of this year as construction work on the same was near completion.
Maintaining that convocation is a celebration of the graduation of students who earned their degrees with important learning, Dr Milind Kamble said that the country has high expectations from the graduating students of MBA.
A total of 214 students were conferred with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree this year. One of the main highlights of the convocation was that 77 female students were awarded the MBA degrees.
Chairperson’s Gold Medal was conferred upon Sonali while Director’s Silver Medal and Chairperson’s MBA Bronze Medal were conferred upon Shraddha Shukla and Raafeeq Dawara, respectively for their scholastic performance.
On this occasion, the President of India also inaugurated the Diversity Cell at IIM Jammu.
