JAMMU, June 19: Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, today signed an agreement with Innoveda Biological Solutions Private Limited, New Delhi for the development of drugs for diabetes, wound healing, cancer, PDE inhibition and inflammation.
Innoveda is a company based in Delhi and has long expertise on the application of traditional drugs based on Ayurveda while as Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu is an organization established since 1957 having expertise on Natural Product Chemistry, Medicinal Plants and General Pharmacology essential for any Drug Discovery program.
While signing the agreement Director, IIIM Dr Ram Vishwakarma explained the need of such collaborations for Development and Standardizations of drugs for common public at a reduced price.
He said that the institute has long experience in Natural Product Chemistry which will complement the knowledge of Innoveda in this project for identification of leads for the above selected diseases.
Sunil Kalra, Director Innoveda said that it was necessary for companies like Innoveda to associate with Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, to apply modern science to traditional knowledge to discover newer leads for the common ailments such as diabetes, cancer, inflammation and other dysfunctions.
The Innoveda will pay to Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine Rs 1.5 crore for Joint Development of 5 drugs.
