Few days back I went to Mansar Lake to enjoy my holiday. Mansar Lake is believed to be one of the best tourist destinations in Jammu division. But the scenario at Mansar is quite disappointing. The road connecting Mansar with Samba is in bad condition having big pot holes throughout the entire road .
Big buildings, shops and hotels have been constructed on the banks of lake. Crude diesel gensets are seen running uninterrupted and releasing harmful smoke into the atmosphere. The paths around the lake and in the park are not regularly cleaned. Two Government agencies, the J&K Tourism Development Corporation and Mansar- Sruinsar Lakes Development Authority have failed to develop this tourist attraction. However, these agencies have been able only to construct big buildings and tourist huts and but have not been able to conserve the environment around the lake.
