IGP reviews crime, general security scenario

Jammu, July 12 : Inspector General of Police, Rajesh Kumar  presided over the meeting of all range DIGs and District SPs  of Jammu Zone at Zonal Police Headquarters  here today.
Mr Kumar reviewed the crime, anti-militancy operation, general security scenario and discussed necessary steps to be taken to control the crime rate.
A threadbare discussion was held regarding disposal of pending crime cases especially cases of heinous crime.  The preparedness of the Police for fair and free forthcoming Assembly elections  and the other law and order related arrangements were  also discussed.
IGP reviewed the crime position and over-all functioning of each district with Range DIGs and District SPs. The disposal of cases registered during the current year and previous pendency was reviewed, discussed and instructions issued.
The arrangements for ongoing Amarnathji Yatra were reviewed  and range DIGs and SSPs were directed to review the arrangement periodically  to ensure peaceful conduct of the Yatra. The officers were also briefed /advised to make adequate security arrangements for all other local yatras such as Machail Yatra, Sarthal Yatra, Budha Amar Nath yatra and all other religious/social functions.
The participating police officcers briefed the IGP about the available inputs and their assessment over the security and law and order situation in Jammu region. They briefed IGP about the arrangements they have made for enhancing the security and law and order arrangements.
The meeting amongst others, was attended by  Shakeel A.Beig, DIG Jammu-Kathua Range,  A. K. Atri, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range,  Ashkoor Wani, DIG  Doda-Ramban-Kishtwar Range, Uttam Chand, SSP Jammu, Vivek Gupta, SSP Reasi,   Mohd Suleman Choudhary, SSP Udhampur, Shamsher Hussain, SP Poonch, M.Latief, SSP Rajouri,    Mohan Lal, SSP Kathua, Sanjay Kotwal, SSP Kishtwar,   Sharief Chowhan,  SSP Doda  and Additional SP Samba besides other police officers.
