JAMMU, July 12: Dental Surgeons Associations continued their fast-unto-death for the eighth consecutive day and dharna for the 12th day at Ambphalla Chowk.
The agitating doctors raised slogans in favour of their demands and flayed the Government for its callous attitude towards them.
They added that the Government has turned deaf ear towards skilled unemployed youth who have spent their precious six years of life to get knowledge which can be utilised for the welfare of society.
Meanwhile, a peaceful march under the banner of DSA was held from Sher-e-Kashmir Park Srinagar to the residence of Chief Minister, in which hundreds of unemployed Dental Surgeons took party. They raised slogans and burnt their aprons and degrees to show the resentment.
Chairman of the Association Dr Pawan Singh Jasrotia said that the delegation from Dental Surgeons Association, India presented memorandum of demands to Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan who has assured that immediate action will be taken to address their grievances.
He stated that the health condition of their colleague Dr Anil Kumar who was on fast-unto-death from yesterday is deteriorating and now the association has decided to start chain hunger strike of female doctors from tomorrow onwards.
He also said that their agitation will not be called off till their demands including complete absorption of unemployed dental youth, recruitment of dental surgeons on yearly basis and establishment of separate directorate for dental health in the State were redressed.
