IGP flags off Bharat Darshan of CD volunteers

JAMMU, Mar 8: State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has undertaken various major initiatives to train and acquaint volunteers on civil defence mechanism. The working of the civil defence organization is being improved with broaden prospects of functioning to meet the requirements.
This was disclosed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Home Guards, Civil Defence and State Disaster Response Force, Yoginder Koul at the flag off ceremony of 7 days Bharat Darshan of civil defence volunteers held at Gulshan Ground here this morning.
The tour programme has been undertaken under Civic Action Programme and 40 volunteers and wardens including the staff have been sent on the tour. The volunteers from 20 districts of the state would visit Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ajmir and Delhi during the tour.
Giving the details, Koul said that the aim of the programme is to provide opportunities for the volunteers to study broader prospects of their functioning, besides interacting with the civil wardens of other states to have firsthand knowledge about their working. He said that such programmes would help in bringing improvements in the working of SDRF and civil defence.
The IGP stressed upon the volunteers to avail the opportunity and  get themselves acquainted with the techniques being adopted in these states. He asked them to function as ambassadors of the state and share their experiences with their counterparts during the visit.
Earlier, the Commandant SDRF, Ghulam Sarwar Chouhan gave a detailed resume of the activities of the organization for strengthening their performance in the noble service. He also briefed the function about the 7 day tour programme of the volunteers.
Among others, the function was attended by DIG, HG/CD & SDRF, Jammu, Sham Lal Sharma, Staff Officer, Ranbir Manhas, SP, HG, Jammu, Vikas Gupta, Divisional Commandant, Dushant Sharma, Chief Warden Jammu, Jugal Sharma, Dy. Chief Warden, Vinod Malhotra, Dy. Divisional Warden, Vijay Magotra, large number of CD wardens/volunteers, prominent citizens and other police officers.
