IETE Jammu celebrates World Telecommunication & Information Society Day

JAMMU, May 17: Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, Jammu Sub Centre (IETE, JSC) in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and IT and Department of Electronics, University of Jammu celebrated 53rd World Telecommunication and Information Society Day on the theme “Accelerating Digital Technologies in Challenging Times” in an online mode today.
Prof Pawanesh Abrol, Chairman, IETE, JSC while welcoming the participants emphasized the significance of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.
Er Vijay Sharma, Honorary Secretary, read the message received from Prof (Dr) JW Bakal, President, IETE, New Delhi. Prof Praveen Lehana, Head, Department of Electronics, University of Jammu and former Chairman, IETE JSC shared his insights on the theme of the event.
Major General SK Sharma (Retd), FIETE while sharing his views explained various initiatives taken by IETE Student Forums of the region.
Dr Lalit Sen Sharma, Professor, Department of Computer Science and IT, University of Jammu introduced the invited speaker Dr Maninder Lal Singh, who is presently working as Professor in the Department of Electronics Technology, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
Dr Maninder delivered an extensive and detailed talk on the theme Advancements in High Speed Communication Technologies.
Er Samir Sharma, Vice Chairman, IETE Jammu while presenting concluding remarks for the event emphasized the upcoming advances in ICT that are contributing to the efforts in resolving COVID-19 pandemic.
Er Vijay Sharma presented the vote of thanks.
Prominent among those who participated in the programme included Dr Ajay Aggarwal, Chairman, IETE, Pilani, Dr Ajay Thakray, IETE Amaravati, Col Manoj Panday, IETE Noida, Dr Neeta Singh, Delhi University, Prof Vinod Sharma, Dr Shubhnandan Singh Jamwal, Jasbir Singh, Joy Ganjoo, FIETE, Dr Suresh Rao, Rajinder Tiwari, FIETE, Gemini Sharma, FIETE, Er Namrata, Richa Sharma and Er Tiny Sahni.
The event was attended by a large number of students, scholars and faculty members from various academic institutions.
