JAMMU, May 17: Former Minister and senior National Conference (NC) leader Ajay Sadhotra has urged the Government to establish mini COVID care centres at all Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the Union Territory.
Expressing his serious concern over the steep rise in deaths due to unprecedented surge in COVID-19 in Jammu, Sadhotra said situation said Government should convert all PHCs into COVID care centres where patients can get Level I and Level II without any delay.
“A task force consisting of senior doctors should be constituted in Jammu as well as Kashmir Division and the health care system should be decentralized by making Ward control rooms so that the families of the infected patients may know about their patients without visiting the wards,” he added.
Sadhotra also emphasized the need of door to door testing. He also questioned late results of RT-PCR tests being done in Government labs. “It is unfortunate that in private, RT-PCR test report comes within an hour but in Government system, it takes more than 12-24 hours due to which treatment delays,” he said and demanded that a Microbiological Laboratory for RT-PCR Test be made at every block level to avoid delay in testing and to encourage common people for testing.
He also urged the Government to make a central godown of medical oxygen cylinders just near control room so that the needed could get oxygen at the earliest, while alleging that after getting permit from the control room, the patient/attendant has to move a long distance to collect oxygen cylinder.
The former Minister also suggested the Government to make preparations in advance to effectively tackle the possible 3rd wave of COVID pandemic and save innocent lives.
