SRINAGAR, Jan 15:
A tragedy was today averted as security forces found and defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by suspected militants in Shopian district of south Kashmir, police said.
Jawans of the 44 Rashtriya Rifles detected the IED fitted in a 5-kg gas cylinder lying by the roadside at Gulab Taing in the Keller area of Shopian, a police official said.
A bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot and the explosive was destroyed in nearby fields, they added. (PTI)
