ICT enabled Jammu Govt schools

Twenty-one Government higher secondary schools in Jammu city are undergoing a project titled “Smart Schools and Modernization of School Infrastructure,” which aims to create 286 information and communication technology (ICT)-enabled classrooms for 11th and 12th-grade students by the end of August this year. The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) has been assigned the task. The project has allocated twenty-eight crores for work on 286 ICT-enabled classrooms in Jammu City. The PWD is responsible for upgrading the school buildings by providing new classrooms, renovations, laboratories, libraries, parking areas, etc. and has almost completed the civil works.
The traditional approach of giving lectures and taking notes has lost its effectiveness in modern education, and the smart classroom concept is a great innovation. New teaching methods are being incorporated into the curriculum, and one of these is the Smart Classroom, which uses videos, animated 3D modules, and instructional materials to help students understand, making learning more enjoyable.
All these 286 classrooms will provide different opportunities to make learning enjoyable, improve knowledge retention among the students, encourage individual learning, promote collaboration, and help students learn skills that will be useful to be successful in the future.
Information technology has enabled teachers to incorporate more relevant and up-to-date information into their lessons. Teachers can use digital simulations, gamification, and other interactive tools to engage students and make learning more fun. Digital learning platforms can provide students with personalised feedback and recommendations based on their learning progress. Teachers can use digital collaboration tools like Google Docs and other collaborative platforms to encourage students to work together on projects. Technology has enabled teachers to offer more flexible learning opportunities, such as online courses and distance learning programmes. This has enabled students to learn at their own pace and on their own schedule.
The IT revolution has started in Government schools, and this will go a long way for the benefit of the students.
