ICF organizes musicial evening of ‘Gazal singing’

JAMMU, June 28: In its continuous endeavour to promote poetry music among the masses, Indian Cultural Forum (ICF) today organized a musical evening of ‘Ghazal singing’.
The program was based on the poetry of renowned Urdu poet from Udhampur Anand Swaroop Anjum. Six Ghazals were composed by Sham Sajan and sung by Gursharan Kour, Virender Kapadia, Sham Manihal, Karan Dev Singh and Sham Sajan himself. The singers were ably accompanied on Guitar by Sanjay Pashi, on Tabla by Karan Malhotra and on Sitar by Mayank Raina.
Anand Swaroop Anjum himself recited two of his ghazals whereas Karan Dev Singh sang “Tum Rasme Wafa Hamse Nibhane Nahin Aana”, in raag Bihagrha which was appreciated by one and all.
Virender Kapadia rendered “Laakh Chaho Khuda Nahin Karta”, in raag Kedar, Gursharan Kour sang “Ehde Rafta Kee Kahanee Chherh Na” in raag Pahari, Sham Manihal rendered “Hum Jahaan Bhee Gaye Too Wahaan Aa Gayee”, in raag Tilang while Sham Sajan sang two Ghazals in raag Deshkar and Bhinnshadaj.
Prof Reeta Jitender presided over the program where as Prof Lalit Magotra, president, Dogri Sanstha and Vijay Singh Sambyal, Station Director, All India Radio Jammu, were the guests of honour.
Prof Reeta Jitender in her speech said that such program are the need of the time and shall be organized frequently. She appreciated the efforts of Indian Cultural Forum for organizing the programme.
Raj Kumar Behrupia conducted the program in his own witty style.
