ICCR Jammu to host international performance by artists of Spain

Jammu, Oct 8: In it’s endeavour to bring world to India, particularly to Jammu, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, (ICCR) Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India is bringing a group from Spain to Jammu for its performance on October 17, 2015.
Giving details, Regional Director of ICCR Jammu informed that a duo of traditional instruments of Spain will perform in Jammu under 2nd International Festival of music and dance being organised by Indian Council for Cultural Relations. The performances of the artists from Spain have been fixed to be organised at Matrika Auditorium, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University for October 17, 2015 at 6 pm.
Balwant Thakur further informed that performance has be taken to SMVDU, since no auditorium of that class and quality is available in Jammu city and desired that interested music lovers may collect invitation cards from ICCR Jammu office 46-Garden Avenue, Talab Tillo Jammu between of October 13 to 15, 2015 during office hours or may mail requests for e-invites to iccrjammu@gmail.com.
The Duo from Spain include Cesar Carazo who plays Canto y fídula (viola) and Eduardo Paniagua who plays Qanún (salterio), flautas. They are globally acclaimed artists and are known as masters of the music of medieval Spain. The lead player of the group Eduardo Paniaguaconsidered “a cultural ambassador” by his country for his contribution to the dialogue between Mediterranean cultures. Cesar Carazo Original Badajoz, is the epitome of medieval chant in Spanish romance languages: Galician-Portuguese, Catalan-Occitan and Moorish-Andalusian singing. He has participated in many recordings with Early Music Group Eduardo Paniagua, Ibn Bajja (Spain-Morocco), and Accentus (Austria)
This will be the fifth International group of artists visiting Jammu for their performance ever since the establishment of ICCR office in Jammu. Earlier groups from Zambia, Republic of Laos, Poland, and Malaysia have successfully given their successful performances in Jammu.
