POONCH, May 29: The Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash today visited Trade Facilitation Centre, Chakan-Da-Bagh and interacted  with the Cross LoC traders.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Nisar Ahmed Wani, Senior Superintendent of Police, J S Johar and senior BJP leader, Pardeep Sharma, the delegation of traders apprised the Minister about the issues hampering smooth flow of cross LoC trade and put forth their demands for its further growth and expansion.
They demanded increase in number of tradable items as well as increase in the number of trucks allowed in a day to other side. They also demanded further strengthening of infrastructure at TFC and communication facility between traders of the two sides. The delegation also urged the Minister to facilitate visit of J&K traders to PoK.
Saying that LoC trade is an effective tool for Confidence Building Measures (CBM) between the people of two sides, the Minister assured the traders that appropriate measures would be taken to facilitate further growth of the trade. He said that with the removal of bottlenecks cross LoC trade would further expand and benefit the traders besides normalizing relations between the two countries.
Earlier, the Minister also chaired a meeting of officers of DIC, Handloom and KVIB to review their functioning. The concerned officers briefed him about various activities of their departments.
The Minister emphasized on the need for establishing new industrial estates and asked the concerned officers to identify land for the same, which would in turn help in the establishment of more industrial units and generation of employment for the unemployed youth in district. He asked the officers to facilitate industrial unit holders and eliminate unnecessary formalities, which lead to delays. He directed them to proactively facilitate the growth of industrial units and work with dedication and aware the public about various schemes of their departments.
Later, the Minister also addressed a public meeting at Dak Bungalow Poonch, where he reiterated the commitment of Coalition Government to work for overall development of the State with special focus on the hitherto neglected areas.
