Husband arrested for murdering wife

UDHAMPUR, Aug 7: With the arrest of husband, Police claimed to have solved murder mystery of young housewife Suman, whose body was found in semi decomposed form from a rented accommodation of the couple in Billan Bowli area near Old Age Home at Udhampur.
The accused Ram Kumar of Jaganoo has confessed that he had killed his wife by hitting on her head with an iron tool and fled from the house.
According to police, on getting information about mysterious death of Suman, inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC were initiated at Police Station Udhampur for further investigation. Post mortem report of the deceased established that the woman had died due to head injury. Taking lead from that and based on the statements of other independent witnesses, the Investigating Officer questioned the deceased’s husband who admitted commissioning of the crime. He said that the deceased used to quarrel with him on petty issues especially on taking liquor. On the day of incident, there was also a quarrel between them and getting annoyed of that he hit hard on her head with an agriculture tool (Boungri). Due to the hard hitting, victim died on the spot following which the accused fled away leaving behind the dead body inside the room. After few days when the body started decomposing and smell started coming out of the room, people informed the police, which investigated the matter and solved the murder mystery.
