Srinagar, July 16: The moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today decided to attend the Eid Milan party of Pakistan High Commissioner scheduled on July 21 at New Delhi.
The decision to attend the party was taken in meeting of Executive Council members of the amalgam here at Mirwaiz’s residence in Nigeen. A Hurriyat member, who was part of the meeting, told Excelsior that a two member delegation of the amalgam would leave for New Delhi on third Eid which would either fall on July 20 or 21.
“Our chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Itehad-ul-Muslimeen president, Masroor Abbas Ansari, would be part of the delegation. Both of them would discuss wide range of issues with Pakistan High Commissioner including the developments at Russia,” he said.
Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who heads another faction of Hurriyat, rejected Pakistan invitation over skipping Kashmir at Ufa in Russia by Nawaz Sharief during his meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The woman separatist leader, Asiya Andrabi too announced her boycott of the Eid party.
Meanwhile, the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) held a meet here over the Pakistan’s invitation. The JKLF chief, Yasin Malik, is likely to announce the party decision regarding the invitation tomorrow at a scheduled gathering in Charar-e-Sharief Shrine of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
