JAMMU, Oct 21: The ongoing chain hunger strike by the Contractual Plus 2 Lecturers entered into 250th day, today.
To continue the chain, fresh batch of Contractual Lecturers replaced the earlier one on hunger strike, this morning. Amidst raising of slogans, Surinder Kumar, Ashwani Kumar, Suresh Kumar and Pooja Salathia began their fast for the next 24 hours at the dharna venue near Exhibition Ground.
These Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per Civil Services Provision Act 2010, a Legislature passed for the regularization of all the Contractual/ Adhoc/ Consolidated/employees as one time exception/relaxation
The protesting Contractual Lecturers also held demonstration, which was addressed by Zabir Hussain Shah, vice-president of All J&K Contractual Lecturers (Plus 2) Association and others.
They vowed to continue the struggle and ongoing chain hunger strike till the Government concedes their demand of regularization. They appealed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Education Minister Altaf Bukhari to respond to their genuine demand and do justice with the highly educated Contractual Lecturers.
They rued that the Ministers of J&K Government were busy in inaugurating Dewali Melas and extending greetings to the people on Bhai Dhooj but they had no time to listen to the grievances of Contractual Lecturers, who have been sitting on fast on the last 250 days.
