JAMMU, June 5: The protesting class-IV employees and Casual Labourers in Jammu University have decided to hold hunger strike in front of the Governor House and include JU Security Staff in next phase of their ongoing agitation from Monday.
This was announced by the protesting employees, who have already been joined by the University Safai Karamcharis.
Today on 25th day of the ongoing strike, the protesting employees held a strong demonstration in front of the Administration block and also took out a rally on the campus.
Addressing the protesting employees, president of Non-Gazetted Employees Union, Krishan Chand accused the Vice-Chancellor of doing nothing concrete on their demands but only making excuses. He also warned the JU administration to desist from indulging in disinformation campaign to sabotage the peaceful strike.
Meanwhile, SKUAST Non Teaching Employees Association also extended its support to the NGEU. B N Singh, president of SKUAST Non Teaching Employees Association and district president of People’s Democratic Trade Union, visited the protesting employees and assured full support to the ongoing agitation. He also urged the Vice Chancellor to initiate concrete measures to dissolve the situation which was apparently going out of the control.
