Huge cache of arms, ammunition recovered

Srinagar, July 16: Army today recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district during searches.
An Army unit in Tragam Kupwara conducted searches in Watnar Gali on Khazanmatti ridge in Kupwara area early today .
They recovered two AK-47 rifles with 10 magzines, one RPG, two 9 mm pistols, one mini MG with two magazines, three UBL, 248 rounds of AK ammunition, 10 MG ammunition, 5 hand grenades, 6 UBGL grenades, one IED set with battery, one pouch, one rucksack and medicines.
In the meantime, in the backdrop of surfacing of Hizbul Mujahideen video and militant attacks, the police and Army in South Kashmir’s Shopian district have stepped up search operations and patrolling.
Troops are also conducting nocturnal patrolling across the district after reports of heightened militant movement. The troops are on look out for Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Waseem Malla.
