JAMMU, Feb 12: Union Ministry for Human Resource Development (HRD) has conceded to the BJP’s continued campaign against improper and malafide implementation of Special Scholarship Scheme (SSS) in J&K.
In response to a letter from Member Parliament (MP) and BJP Prabhari J&K, Avinash Rai Khanna, Union Ministry for Human Resource Development (HRD) from the academic year 2014-15, issued a new set of guidelines for the J&K Government to ensure fairness and transparency in implementation of Special Scholarship Scheme (SSS).
This was conveyed to Khanna today by Union MoS HRD Pallam Raju in a letter addressed to him.
Khanna had quoted reports to State that certain NGOs were exploiting the youth in the name of the scheme and making money by depriving the deserving candidates. Taking cognizance of the matter, HRD Ministry has suggested placing all the relevant details/results on the website and develop a mechanism of central monitoring to ensure that NGOs or any other middle-men are not able to do foul play with or without the connivance of certain State officials.
Not only this, AICTE will, from next academic session, also provide centralised admission to eligible candidates to ensure that norms are followed in the implementation of the scheme in J&K.
