JAMMU, May 26: Pakistan army today resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing on the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote sector of Poonch district causing damage to some houses and killing and injuring few cattle.
Pakistani troops started heavy shelling at 3 am which continued till 5.30 am, reports said, adding the Indian side retaliated effectively.

Five houses suffered partial damage in Pakistan shelling in Balakote while six cattle perished and four others were injured.
Heavy shelling was reported from Panjni, Suhala, Darhati, Sandiot, Upper Gulad and surrounding areas of Balakote leading to panic among the locals.
However, there was no human loss of life.
Casualties or damage on Pakistan side couldn’t be ascertained immediately.
