SAMBA, Sept 6: In a strange incident, a pregnant lady who was denied admission in District Hospital Samba today delivered a baby on the roadside with the help of local ladies of the area.
Police sources here, said that a woman identified as Neelam, 35, wife of Davinder Kumar, resident of Bihar, presently living near SIDCO Phase-I Samba, this morning reached the District Hospital Samba when she suffered labour pain.

“In view of COVID-19 pandemic, the Hospital authorities asked her for a test report and refused to admit her. They referred her to Jammu Hospital while not making the ambulance service available to her,” police added.
They said that the woman was experiencing severe pain and ultimately with the help of local ladies and a relative, later delivered a baby outside the chemist shop on the road side.
“As soon as the news was circulated on social media, the hospital staff rushed to the spot with an ambulance and shifted the woman along with the new born to the hospital for further treatment,” police added. They later said that both the woman and the child, are stable and healthy.
The role of the staff and doctors of the Hospital has come to severe criticism by the people who alleged that this way the hospital staff was playing with the human lives. They have also demanded a probe into the matter as to how the doctors and the hospital staff refuse to admit such patients. The people said if the patients in emergency are denied admission in hospitals then what is the fun of having the hospitals with huge men and machinery.
They said the doctors with their irresponsible attitude had put the lives of both mother and baby to a grave risk.
