JAMMU, Nov 25: A mega awareness camp was conducted today by Horticulture Department in village Swanjana under the scheme Capex-2019-20 (Model Litchi Village).
The camp was attended by Chief Horticulture Officer, experts from SKUAST– Parshant Bakshi and Brajesh, District Horticulture Officer Vijay Angurana and District Level Subject Matter Specialist Sanjeev Kumar, Pardeep Gupta along with concerned Horticulture Development Officer Dheeraj Sharma.
District Soil Analyst Gurdeep Singh was also present there along with Mobile Soil Lab. Soil samples were collected on the spot and recommendations given to the farmers about pests and diseases of field crops with main focus on the Litchi crop.
Experts from the department also had a close interaction with farmers regarding proper planting of orchards, quality plant material, importance of soil and leaf analyst, organic farming and Judicious use of Pesticides and Fungicides.
