Jammu, Feb 27: The Department of Horticulture Planning & Marketing, Fruit Complex Narwal, Jammu organized two days training camp on ‘E-NAM, Model Act, Financial Code / Rules, and GEM ‘Portal’ at Fruit Complex Narwal, Jammu.
Manzoor Ahmad Lone, Secretary to the Government, Horticulture and Agriculture Department was the Chief Guest who inaugurated the training programme. Lone, while addressing, highlighted the importance of mechanization of agricultural/ horticultural produce and suggested adoption of modernized techniques/ways to increase the productivity.
He quoted the examples of China, Europe, Greece and other such countries who have adopted and modern techniques to increase the production manifolds without compromising with the quality of the produce. As J&K is in a transition phase from conventional marketing ways to e-marketing, all the Mandies, have to adopt the principles, and procedures enshrined in the National Agriculture Marketing connected through internet/common platform. He also emphasized the need for adoption transparent mechanism and auctioning so that the producer gets the maximum share ot his produce which shall add to the national motto of doubling the income the farmer by 2022. A series of mechanisms from pre-harvest to post-harvest are to be adopted which includes establishing of Cold Chains from the field to the ultimate market.
Prof. Anil Bhat and Prof. Pawan Sharma from Shere Kashmir University of Agricu-lture, Science & Technology (SKUAST) Jammu presented their papers on E-NAM and Model APMR Act respectively.
All the staff of Department of Horticulture Planning & Marketing, Jammu – division attended the training programme besides president All Valley Fruit Association and president Fruit Market Sopore also participated in the training programme and shared their experiences.
