PG College Rajouri wins overall trophy as Sports Fest concludes

RAJOURI, Feb 27: Government PG College Rajouri clinched the overall trophy, winning four title trophies in men and one in women section in the four-day long Inter-College Sports Festival which concluded with an impressive and well attended valedictory function, here today.
In the valedictory function, Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri, Prof (Dr) Javed Musarrat was the chief guest, who along with Principal of the host PG College Rajouri, Prof (Dr) Shakeel Ahmed Raina gave away the title trophies as also other individual prizes.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Liaqat Chowdhary was the guest of honour.
The chief guest, Prof Javed Musarrat appreciated the participants and wished for their bright future.
He expressed his satisfaction over the functioning of the PG College Rajouri under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Shakeel Ahmed Raina.
The PG College Rajouri made a clean sweep in men’s section winning Cricket, Volleyball, Football, Table Tennis, Tug of War and Kabaddi titles and took away women’s Table Tennis title to be declared overall champion.
Earlier, in Cricket, PG College Rajouri defeated GDC Budhal and in Volleyball, GDC Darhal lost to PG College Rajouri. In Football, PG College Rajouri beat GDC Thannamandi and in Kabaddi again PG College emerged winner outplaying GDC Budhal in the final. In Badminton, GDC Nowshera trounced GDC Sunderbani and in Kho Kho, GDC Sunderbani downed GDC Nowshera. The Tug of War title also went to PG College Rajouri, who beat GDC Koteranka. In Table Tennis final, PG College trounced GDC Kalakote.
However, in women’s section, PG College Rajouri could only win the Table Tennis final and remained runners-up in two other events of Badminton and Volleyball.
The Volleyball trophy was bagged by GDC Nowshera, who beat PG College Rajouri whereas in Table Tennis final, PG College Rajouri defeated GDC Kalakote.
In Badminton, GDC Sunderbani emerged winner beating P.G. College Rajouri. The Kho-Kho title went to GDC Nowshsera, who beat GDC Sunderbani. In Tug of War final, GDC Thannamandi defeated GDC Nowshera.
Earlier, Principal of the College, Prof Raina welcomed the chief guest and appreciated the convener of sports committee Prof Assadullah Khan, Rakesh Puri (Physical Director) and Tanwir Ahmed (Assistant Physical Director) for successful conduct of the mega event.
Prof. Mohd Iqbal Raina conducted the proceedings.
