Horti Deptt organizes Kissan Goshthi at Mathwar

JAMMU, Nov 3: Department of Horticulture organized a one-day awareness camp cum Kissan Goshthi at remote panchayat Mathwar.
District Development Council (DDC) Jammu Chairman Bharat Bhushan was the chief guest in the awareness programme presided over by DDC member Joginder Singh and Additional District Development Commissioner Ramesh Chander was the guest of honour.
While addressing a large gathering of more than 200 farmers including women, Bharat Bhushan impressed upon farmers to avail the benefits of different farmer friendly schemes of the Department and adopt drip irrigation system in their orchards with the assistance of the Department for judicious use of water especially in Kandi areas. He acknowledged the efforts of Chief Horticulture Jammu Sarbjeet Singh in serving the farming community with zeal and zest.
Chief Horticulture Jammu Sarbjeet Singh, while speaking on the occasion, briefed the farmers about various centrally sponsored schemes of the Department and urged them to come forward, associate with the Horticulture Department and avail the benefits on different components viz: Bore Well, water harvesting tanks, Drip irrigation, Custom Hiring Centres, vermin compost units, protected cultivation, tools & implements etc. for upliftment of their socio- economic status. He asked the farmers to plant Aloevera plants in their rain-fed areas to generate income from such areas.
During the programme, Additional District Development Commisisoner Ramesh chander advised the farmers to frequently interact with the field functionaries of the Department regarding the new technologies and the problems being faced by them in the fields.
DDC member Joginder Singh requested the Department to organize such camps in adjoining panchayats also while HDO Bhalwal Sandeep Sharma took the queries of the farmers regarding various schemes and explained them in detail every Horticulture related scheme.
Later, fruit plants of different crops viz. citrus, Amla, Mango and Harad were distributed among the farmers who participated in the camp.
Among others, DLSMS (Pomo) Sandeep Gupta, Tehsildar Bhalwal Ashok Chakorborthy, BDO Mathwar, HDO Marh Sansar Chand were present on the occasion.
