JAMMU, Oct 15: Department of Horticulture Jammu organized one-day farmers’ awareness-cum-interaction program with special emphasis on plantation schemes, especially Strawberry cultivation, at village Garkhal of Block Akhnoor.
The program was presided over by District Level Subject Matter Specialist (Pomology) Jammu Sandeep Gupta. Horticulture Development Officer Akhnoor Virender Sharma, Sarpanch Garkhal Kashmir Singh besides farmers in large numbers participated in the program.
Sandeep Gupta while addressing the participants educated them about various departmental schemes/programs presently under implementation in the district with special emphasis on Revised Modified High Density Plantation Scheme, Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP), CAPEX and SMAM.
He briefed them in detail about Strawberry cultivation and impressed upon them to adopt its cultivation as it is highly remunerative cash crop and moreover a healthy incentive of Rs 13000 per kanal is available for its cultivation. He advised them to keep close liaison with the field functionaries of the Horticulture Department to take maximum benefit from the departmental schemes.
Virender Sharma while speaking on the occasion briefed the farmers about the plantation schemes available and guided them to apply for availing incentives available through online portals viz Jansugam (jansugam.jk.gov.in) and HADP (hadp.jk.gov.in). He advised them to avail incentive available on establishment of Custom Hiring Centres and Farm Machinery Banks under centrally sponsored scheme SMAM for employment generation and earning good income.
