JAMMU, Mar 29: A grand holy Chhari Yatra was taken to historical Shrine of Purmandal-Utterbehni after performing traditional Pooja here today.
On the occasion of Chetra Krishan Chaturdarshi, the holy Chhari was first taken to Shr Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, Gandhi Nagar via Raghunath Ji Mandir from Shri Ranbireshwar Mandir, Shalamar Road, Jammu. After performing ‘Pooja Archna’ at Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, Gandhi Nagar, under the guidance of Sant Mahatmas the holy Chhari was taken in a specially designed chariot (Rath) in a huge religious procession to the historical shrine of Purmandal, after performing Aarti at Mahadev temple Gandhi Nagar, Shiv Mandir Trikuta Nagar and Shiv Shakti Mandir Greater Kailash besides Naringh Dev Mandir and Data Ranpat Dev Mandir at Birpur, where devotees had assembled in large number to pay their obeisance.
A large number of Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs led by Sarpanchs and Panchs besides prominent persons accorded befitting reception to the pilgrims at Kharra, Madana and Takker. Apart from the office bearers and members of Dogra Saddar Sabha, Dharamarth Trust J&K and Chairman Purmandal-Utterbehni Shrines Development Committee addressed the large gathering and highlighted the importance of this Duggar pilgrimage. They said that a large number of pilgrims have started visiting these shrines including those who visit Mata Vaishnodevi. They stressed the need to promote these shrines by the Tourism Department by giving wider publicity and also upgrading infrastructure there.
