Holiday on J&K Accession Day

Sir,
I would like to thank the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory administration for declaring the ‘Accession Day’ of Jammu and Kashmir as Holiday on 26 October. When the ‘Intrument of Accession’ was signed by erstwhile ruler of Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir, to be observed in the Govt offices and Educational Institutions throughout the length and breadth of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It was a long pending demand of many regional political parties and social organisations from across the Jammu region. The powerful political lobby from Kashmir were never considered the genuine demand of the people of Jammu region and political stalwarts from Jammu were just stooges to the Kashmir leadership.
This has also stamped that basically it was Maharaja Hari Singh who acceded the erstwhile J&K State with Union of India and States Accession was full and final and not a disputed calling for plebiscite. At the same time it would have been more jubilant for Dogras if the peristent demand of declaring the Birthday of erstwhile ruler of J&K State Maharaja Hari Singh as holiday would have also been acceded. It would have given more hilarious movements for all if the 23rd September, the Birth Anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh and Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Birth Anniversary on December 5 too have been included in the list of holidays which are also a long pending demand of the people.
All local organisation crusading for the cause needs to be congratulated for their unrelenting struggle. The Govt of UT of J&K also need to be congratulated for this welcome decision as Accession Day, fulfilling the long pending demand of the Jammu region and giving joyous and delightful movements to be people.
