Holi revelers

Sir,
This refers to the blatant violation of the traffic laws which took place on the eve of Diwali. Hundreds and hundreds of bikes driven in a rash manner with three persons on each bike without wearing any helmet took control on the roads of the Jammu city and the traffic police was nowhere to be seen to check this hooliganism. I saw many vehicles with all its doors open and boys hanging out of them yelling at the public on road. In some cases, I even saw youth sitting on the top of their cars and whistling incessantly. On the busy Tawi bridge   I saw three cars parked with their music systems blaring and about 40-50 persons dancing to the tunes to it resulting in utter traffic chaos. All this posed a grave risk not only to the lives of these Holi revelers but also to the lives of the persons walking on the road or moving in their vehicles. 2,407 motorists were booked for drunken driving on the eve of Holi in Delhi. Delhi police had constituted more than 200 special teams to check drunken driving during Holi but no such arrangement was to be found in our city unfortunately. The State cannot afford to surrender to such people just on the pretext that for one day of Holi, the boys should be allowed to have fun. It was the worst form of whole sale lawlessness I have seen in recent times.
Yours etc….
Ajay Kumar,
Shakti Nagar, Jammu.
