JAMMU, July 12: The Government today ordered suspension of Head of Department (HoD) Oncology, Government Medical College, Jammu, Dr Ashutosh Gupta after raid conducted by the Vigilance Organization yesterday at his clinic found that he was violating the Government order, which barred the HoD from private practice. Some GMC patients with hospital record were also found at his clinic.
Health and Medical Education Minister Bali Bhagat has ordered suspension of Dr Gupta pending an inquiry against him, which is being conducted by the Vigilance Organization after the raid.
The Health and Medical Education Minister issued the suspension order of the HoD Oncology after obtaining detailed report about him.
Sources said the Government has reports that some other HoDs were also violating the Government order under which the HoDs were banned from doing private practice. Action against all HoDs engaged in private practice will follow, they added.
