Hirdesh Kumar reviews progress of flagship schemes in power sector

Jammu, Nov 26: Commissioner Secretary, JKPDD, Hirdesh Kumar today chaired a meeting on the implementation of flagship programmes in power sector viz. Saubhagya, DDUGJY, PMDP, IPDS and RAPDRP. He took a detailed review of the status of ongoing projects under these flagship programmes.
The Commissioner Secretary expressed his satisfaction over the J&K State achieved 100% household electrification much ahead of the timeline and lauded the Department for being on toes to achieve this target in merely 12 months. However, he insisted upon fast track installation of necessary infrastructure as well to accommodate the load growth to pave the way towards achieving the goal of 24×7 power supply for all the consumers.
Development Commissioner (Power), Ajay Gupta, Secretary Technical, JKPDD, Bashir Dar, Chief Engineer, EMRE Wing, Jammu, Sudhir Gupta, Chief Engineer, EMRE Wing, Kashmir, Hashmat Qazi, Chief Engineer, EMRE Wing, Leh, Manhar Gupta, Nodal Officer, Sanjay Sharma and representatives from the concerned Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) such as PGCIL , RECPDCL , RECTPCL , Reliance Elektrik , Transrail Lighting and Capital Electech , also attended the meeting
To push forward the pace of implementation of the aforesaid projects, Hirdesh Kumar called for a coordinated approach to ensure timely completion of all ongoing projects. He directed the concerned to maintain close liaison with the executing agencies and vigorously pursue the projects so that these are completed in set timeframe. Accordingly, various issues which are hampering/ delaying the execution of works under these schemes were discussed and resolved ,besides formation of different committees headed by Development Commissioner (Power) for smooth execution/ monitoring of the works. The Commissioner Secretary also directed all the concerned PDD Officers to control and eradicate the menace of power theft which can play a pivotal role in reducing AT&C losses to meet the commitment of the State under Ujjwal Discom Assurance Yojna (UDAY). Since the State has signed a MOU with Government of India under UDAY which has helped to improve the financial condition of the Department, it is essential to achieve the operational milestones envisaged under the scheme. Therefore, as a step forward, Smart/ Pre-paid meters will be installed at various locations to ensure reduction of losses. Besides, other projects involving IT interventions like implementation of Smart Grid Projects in 19 towns of J&K State were also discussed in threadbare.
