KATHUA, Mar 9: To register their anger against the police lathicharge on peaceful protesters at Chadwal and other places yesterday demanding CBI probe into the murder of a minor girl in Rassana area of Hiranagar tehsil, a complete bandh was observed in the townships of Hiranagar , Koota, Chadwal and Dayala Chak today.
The call for bandh was given by Hindu Ekta Manch (HEM) led by advocate Vijay Sharma and it was supported by Beopar Mandal of respective areas.
The traders downed the shutters of their shops and other business establishments in support of bandh in all these townships today while HEM activists led by Advocate Vijay Sharma held a protest demonstration at Hiranagar and torched the effigy of Government and condemned the police lathicharge on peaceful protesters yesterday. The Manch also reiterated its demand of CBI probe into the murder of minor girl so that the victim’s family gets justice.
The protesters raising anti Government slogans said that they were protesting peacefully in a democratic way but police provoked them by resorting to lathicharge. They also criticized the BJP MLA saying he ditched the public and did not took the issue with the Government.
The representatives of Beopar Mandal said that they are with the people but these are public representatives who ditched them.
Vijay Sharma while condemning the police action said that the HEM will not budge an inch from its demand of CBI probe into the murder case of Asifa and punishment to guilty.
To register their protest against the lathicharge on people at Chadwal and other places yesterday, the Bar Association, Kathua and Young Lawyers Association Kathua held a protest against the policies of State Government today.
They raised slogans and burnt the effigy of State Government in front of District Court Complex Kathua. The senior member of Bar Association Kathua, Arvind Gupta , Advocate Anil Singh Andotra and President Young Lawyers Association Kathua Advocate Himanshu Sharma while talking to the media, condemned the act of Police in Chadwal yesterday and also condemned the arrest of senior advocate and other individuals.
They said one innocent person was seriously injured and he is under treatment. The president of Young Lawyers Association (YLA) Kathua, Advocate Himanshu Sharma while condemning the policies also strongly condemned the murder of minor girl Asifa. He said that they are not in favour of any particular community and not against any other. The real culprit should be put behind the bars and justice should deliver to the family of deceased girl, he added.
He also demanded if public at large demanded CBI probe into the murder, the State Government should accept the demand.
Meanwhile the National Panthers Party (NPP), president, Balwant Singh Mankotia while addressing the media person at Kathua criticized the double standards of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and accused it of befooling the innocent public of the State.
He said that on the one side BJP is enjoying the luxurious life while staying in Government and on the other side participating in protest of common masses. He has condemned the Police lathicharge and teargas on peaceful march of Hindu Ekta Manch demanding the CBI inquiry in Asifa murder case and justice for everyone.
He said that BJP has failed to gave justice to people of Hiranagar despite the promise made by two responsible ministers of the party, Chander Parkash Ganga and Ch Lal Singh at Koota to conduct CBI inquiry or join the protest with people. He said BJP has been exposed before the people and they have no right to stay in the Government.
The District Congress Committee (DCC), Kathua protested at Dayalachak today against the lathicharge on peaceful protesters yesterday.
Expressing anguish over the situation emerged at Chadwal and other surrounding areas of National Highway after excessive force used on the agitating local people of Hiranagar demanding CBI inquiry in Asifa murder case, Congress activists under the leadership of District Congress Committee, president Subash Gupta staged protest demonstration at Dayalachak.
The protesters raising slogans against State Government torched the effigy of Government.
Subash Gupta, while expressing his views said, “the present PDP- BJP Government is becoming ineffective day by day, and in its regime the disparities with the Jammu region have become order of the day. In this Coalition Government PDP is making all decisions which suit it and the BJP which is in coalition, is behaving like a mute spectator because of lust for power and thus do not want to displease PDP”, he added.
