Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 23: Rejecting the claim of State Coalition Government that relief and rehabilitation process is carried out at war footing, National Panthers Party (NPP) president and MLA Udhampur Balwant Singh Mankotia said that State Government has failed to provide relief to rain and flood affected people especially hilly and far flung areas of Jammu province in particular reference to Udhampur district.
Mankotia warned the State Government that NPP will not allow ruling leaders to adopt nepotism and favouratism in distribution of relief material.
JKNPP president and MLA Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia while addressing a press conference said people who have lost everything in flood devastation, still deprived of relief and other basic needs.
He added than more than 15 days have passed, people of hilly and far flung areas are waiting for tents and forced to live in open sky. These houseless people need tents so as to give shelter to their wards and save them from wild animals and weather. Even they have not received adequate ration and other eatable material while State is receiving huge relief mater from country, Balwant added.
Mankotia said Jammu province is again discriminated by Coalition Government as whole concentration of Government is towards Kashmir province while flood affected people of Jammu province are neglected in providing adequate relief and ration.
He asked the concerned departments particularly officers handling relief material and other help, to immediately release compensation in favour of flood affected people.
He also asked Government to make Civil Secretariat functional at Jammu so that grievances of people can be addressed.
Mankotia further informed that, NPP will hold hunger strike on September 27 in support of these demands outside Governor House at Jammu.
