JAMMU, Sept 23: On the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu and PG Department of Blood Transfusion and Medicines, Government Medical College, Jammu organized quiz competition on the theme “Voluntary Blood Donation-A Need of the Hour”.
Students of different Government and private colleges which include Government MAM College, Government Commerce College, GGM Science College, GCW Parade, GCW Gandhi Nagar, Government Polytechnics Boys and Women, MIER College and KC Law College participated in the competition.
The competition was organized to motivate the students community to lend their helping hand in donating voluntary blood to save the precious lives and to increase general co-operation about voluntary blood donation.
Dheeraj Kumar Mahajan from Government MAM College bagged first position, whereas Ajay Vaid from Government MAM College and Shifali Sharma, GCW Parade shared second position. Minali Deep from GCW Gandhi Nagar cinched third position.
Dr Kamaljit Singh, Associate Prof Department of Blood Transfusion Medicines, GMC, Dr Naveen Akhtar, Blood Transfusion Department, GMC Jammu and RC Puri, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu were also present.
