Higher Education Deptt starts e-literacy programme

JAMMU, Dec 23: Commissioner/ Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today convened a meeting to launch e-literacy programme for degree colleges of the State.
The meeting was attended by Executive Director, National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Dr A H Moon and other officers from the department.
The meeting was informed that besides implementation of cashless digital economy like VISAKA, Union Ministry of Human Resource Development will introduce e-literacy training courses for faculty and students. In this context, three day workshop will be held in Jammu University from 9th to 11th January, 2017 for Principals, faculty members and students of Jammu Division, followed by similar programmes in Kashmir Division after conduct of examination by Higher Education Department.
Later, Dr Asgar also reviewed the progress of establishing permanent campus of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) on 122 Kanals of land in the vicinity of Jammu city.
The meeting was informed that construction of the permanent campus will be started within one month.
It was also given out that in due course of time similar campus may come up in Kashmir region also to increase the intake capacity of the institute in consultation with IIMC, New Delhi.
The meeting was attended by Director Colleges, Principal GGM Science College, Ajit Angral, IIMC Special Officer, S Khajuria, Deputy Director Headquarter IIMC, PVK Ram and other officers of the department.
