JAMMU, Oct 24: The exhibition of heritage items manufactured by the trainees of Govt Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) of Jammu Division was organized by the Technical Education Department in collaboration with Kala Kendra here today.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma inaugurated the exhibition in presence of Joint Director Technical education G M Bhat and several officers and organizers.
This exhibition has mainly focused on the heritage items like Basohli shawls weaving, Basohli paintings, traditional Phulkari art etc.
The Divisional Commissioner after inauguration of the exhibition visited several stalls and lauded the art work of the trainees, especially the Basohli paintings, shawls and Phulkari suits. G M Bhat disclosed that Technical Education department is playing pioneering role in popularizing traditional art of the state as well as enabling source of self employment to the youth of J&K.
Prominent among others who were present on the occasion included, Rajendra Kumar, Principal ITI Jammu , Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Secretary Kala Kendra Jammu, Anoop Sharma Assistant Director, Naresh Singh Supt ITI Kathua, Rajesh Gupta Supt Women ITI Jammu and others.
